Sometimes and much of late, I’ve felt I’m burning the candle at both ends. Last night I was thinking and talking to my Wife and I mentioned that I never have difficulty sleeping. When my head hits the pillow and halfway through my prayer, I’m usually out until morning.
It’s actually a good thing as I do recall a time in my life when my mind would race like crazy and think about all kinds of things that might keep me up for an hour or longer after the lights went out. So I am grateful for my ability to sleep easy and quickly.
Now I ask the all and important question. When you lay your head on your pillow at night can you say you did all you could have done that day in the way of personal and professional growth and in having worked your goals and dreams for that day?
If you can answer “yes” to that question, then you’ll have a great nights rest. If your answer is “no”, don’t beat yourself up about it, just learn from it and move on. Take that lesson and shift your behaviors and habits so they coincide with your passion. I would even invite you to live your life in a way that will allow you to say “yes” to that answer to just see how you feel by being able to answer that way. Why not try, you’ve got nothing to lose.
You know, one thing I’ve learned as I hit the century mark in my life is that time goes by so fast, and life is so short. You deserve to enjoy your life to its fullest and you can’t do that if you aren’t playing the game of life as though you really want to win.
When you’re on your death bed, you’ll either have peace and good feelings or you’ll be overwhelmed with regret. We both know which life you’d like to experience. So, keep on your path, you’ll make it by feeling really good about each day you live.
Until next time,
Kevin
