I’ve been working on myself utilizing the tools of great books, recordings, seminars and association. I understand how finding time for these most important experiences can sometimes be a daunting accomplishment.
I remember being told to read 10 minutes or a chapter a night from a great self-help book to make significant progress in helping to reach your goals and dreams. This information will fuel your attitude and help to drive you in obtaining all that you want. Sometimes I don’t feel like putting in 10 minutes or reading a chapter on a daily basis.
You could say to yourself, “I’ll do it tomorrow” and get no benefit for the day. However, this can be very detrimental to your habit forming behavior and to your success. Here is what I find works better. I may not want to take 10 minutes to grow by reading on a particular day, yet to overcome the destructive force of not doing it I suggest and have implemented reading just 2 pages everyday. I can always read 2 pages every night before I retire and can always read more if I’m so inclined to do so. The key here is creating and keeping the habit of giving to yourself that which you need and will help you to reach and achieve your goals and dreams.
You’ve probably heard how important it is to do this activity just upon laying down for the day. Here are the benefits of taking the action of reading 2 pages a night just before retiring:
1) You keep the promise to yourself of life long continuous improvement
2) You create and keep the habit of feeding your brain valuable information
3) During your resting hours your mind churns the great learning acquired from the material you read
4) The results of doing this will lead to a happier life filled with more peace and with more tools to deal with day to day challenges
This is a solution to give you the best opportunity at reaching your goals and dreams. Also, doing so provides a solution to the problem of feeling too exhausted or feeling that you don’t have the time to make feeding your brain a reality on a daily basis. The fact is your brain needs as much feeding as your body and if you don’t feed it with great thoughts it becomes a receptacle for garbage thoughts. The results of which will spell disaster in being a goal reaching person. What would happen if you didn’t feed your body for a day or several days? It atrophies. So does your brain. You’re moving forward or moving backward, increasing in wisdom or decreasing to ignorance. The choice is up to you, and you wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t want the finer things in life.
Thank you and have a great day!
Kevin
You are right on in your article! I think the biggest injustice that people do to themselves is to starve their brains of information that requires them to question and think. I like the idea of 2 pages a day. Anybody, no matter how busy, should be able to do 2 pages a day!
