Good Day,
I was reading an great book autographed and sent to me by the author and this week’s special guest speaker for the Ask Mister Self Help tele-seminar series (http://www.AskMisterSelfHelp.com) Patrick Snow named “Create Your Own Destiny” and I’ve been finding great nuggets in it that are priceless. Many things have struck chords with me I am choosing to write about one such thought now. Patrick piggybacks off of what Herbert Prochnow says (in regards to how you might choose to live your life) “[You] let life’s circumstances determine who you become and what you achieve in life. Patrick comments, ‘I believe that those who decide to sit back are like a leaf blown off a tree during a windstorm that flutters aimlessly until landing at an unknown destination. These folks end up falling to wherever it is that the wind blows them…beaten up and battered, eventually stomped on and crushed!’”
Those thoughts resonated with me because I’ve never desired to be one of those folks. I’ve always wanted to be in control of my life and my destiny. Even when I was a young adult, I decided I didn’t want to go into the military because I didn’t want anyone telling me what to do. I wanted to do everything on my own. Then I got a job and found out that a boss or manager did the same thing and I was back to where I didn’t want to be. But I put up with it because I was getting a paycheck and I believed this was the way to do as I should because everyone around me was doing the same thing and it was looked at as the right thing to do. We recently had a huge wind storm as winter approaches and I remember seeing many leaves from our redbud tree being blown around that had no control where they might land and now reside in the far end of our back ground to be cleaned up and taken away like helpless plant particles that have now lost their usefulness.
I’ve always wanted to be free to do as I want when I want, to be truly free. I never wanted to be blown around the backyard as a leaf that falls from a tree, but rather have my own direction that I follow. And I’ve always done this outside of my job. I look forward to the day I can remove my job from my life and work the business that brings me so much challenge, yet so much joy. I want to have an extraordinary life and I want that for you too if you desire the same.
Have a great day.
With Love and Gratitude,
Kevin
