It’s not a Race, it’s a Challenge

We've got a challenge, but we've got to get on with it!

We’ve got a challenge, but we’ve got to get on with it!

So what’s the challenge? The challenge is what it is you’re trying to accomplish. To be more specific, it’s your goal, your dreams. I make this distinction because it is so important and to take it one step further, it’s your big audacious dream and goal. If it weren’t, then there wouldn’t be much of a journey. In fact, we might call it a stroll.

Journey implies that you’re going somewhere that is beyond the end of your block. It gives you a long enough destination to be able to run, walk, stop, slow down, speed up, start again and so on. My point is don’t turn your journey into a race. Make it a challenge instead, that you’re committed to accomplishing regardless how long and how hard it takes to achieve.

I was talking to my new mastermind group team about today this very subject, explaining that authoring my first book may take 2 years or who knows how long and when I started, not knowing very much about what it takes to publish a book, I gave myself a goal of 90 days to complete.

Learning what I’ve learned over the past 30 days, I now realize that 90 days most likely won’t be long enough, especially in selling a million copies of which is my ultimate goal. I could tell you why I set that goal but will explain in a future post, not this one.
And even if it takes 2 years to complete, it’s still worth it because it’s my passion and that makes it alright. Sometimes when we start out working our dreams we don’t know what the time period is to accomplishing them, and that’s okay. We can just place another date on them if the one you’re working towards isn’t the right one.

And remember, the journey is where all the joy comes from, not the arrival stage. If you truly love what you do, it’s not work, its joy.

Until next time,

Kevin
