As I strolled to get the daily mail from my mail box, I couldn’t help but notice how the grass of a neighbors yard no longer had the beauty it had several years back as new owners took a different approach to caring for it. I recall how lush green and beautiful the grass was several years ago and remember the owner applying something to it that was sure to continue giving its healthy look. Today though, it has missing spots where no grass lives and more weeds than anything else. What’s missing? They water it everyday. What happened to turn a practical masterpiece into an ugly eye sore?
It was an attitude change from one owner to the next. The previous owner had an attitude of taking good care of the lawn by giving it what it needed to bring forth beauty and health. Where as the current owner neglected the lawn almost entirely, or so it looked. The current owner didn’t have an attitude that matched that of the previous owner and so they got different results.
Now, having a green lush beautiful lawn may not be important to you as it is with the current owner of the property I speak of and that’s ok. We all have ideals and beliefs that determine what is important to us. I bring this to your attention today because I want you to reflect on what you are making more green, lush, and beautiful in your life right now. It may be that you are doing excellent and working and cultivating that which you really want and desire in your life, and if so, awesome. However, I suspect if we look deep within ourselves we can find some area that needs changing that doesn’t harmonize with those great ideals and beliefs we hold close to our hearts. And if we don’t make a change to remove them, then we do 2 things that are destructive to us:
1) We take away nutrition from the things we want to cultivate and make more green, lush, and beautiful because of our limited resource of time
2) We cultivate a greener more lush and beautiful undesired result, which we don’t want or like and creates a more undesired life
How do you determine where you’re growing your grass green and where you are creating a desert? By being honest with yourself and determining where you are spending your time and effort. Where you are laying fertilizer, weed killer, aerating, and regular maintenance is where you will create your green lush and beautiful lawn. These are also known as your priorities, because your most important priorities are what you give your time, energy, effort and attention to. Is what you are giving your time, energy, effort, and attention to going to lead to your living a happy life? Don’t get caught up with making the weeds greener and thriving so well that they reach your waist. Dig them up, throw them away, and plant new grass seeds that will give you the life you truly desire.
Thanks everyone and have a blessed day,
Kevin
