Human nature is to focus on how to make oneself happy and successful. Don’t let this innate reaction be the doom of the true success you seek.
One phrase I always come back to is that said by Zig Zigglar and of which has stuck with me for a long time. It is, “Help enough other people get what it is that they want and you’ll get what you want”.
Think if everyone followed this philosophy how much better our world would be. In fact, if we were to realize this kind of world, we would live in a world that knows only peace. It brings great feelings to just think about it.
I challenge you to care about others, always placed after yourself in priority, and to give to them in financial ways, time, energy and effort. By doing so you will experience a new joy and happiness that you have not felt before. Make an experiment out of it. Like I’ll do one nice thing daily to a complete stranger in one way or another.
The help you provide this person will bring them enormous benefit, but will bring you even greater benefits in one way or another. Don’t over commit yourself in any area to make it happen because even little things will benefit you and them.
As you make this a habit in your life you will find new and better ways to serve your common man. There are millions of ways to help people so there’s no excuse not to. Here’s a short list of … things you can do out of the millions to get your thinking process going:
• Spend a day or a few hours at an old folks home and play games or talk with them
• Buy a small bag of food and give it to a homeless person or donate it a local food drive
• Say “Hello” and answer “How are you doing?” with “Fantastic, thank you” in conjunction with a big smile to everyone you meet during the course of a day
• Encourage a child or adult to do their best
• Compliment everyone you meet on something you admire about them
• Give a great (self-help) book away
• Give a call or write to someone you haven’t spoke to in a long time and tell them you love them and was thinking about them and wish them well
• Over a million other ways to help someone, some way
Feel fortunate for what you have because you are very fortunate. There have been and are so many people who have it worse than you. We are blessed and to shine some light of love and hope to others regardless of their being is a gift that will live on forever in the hearts you touch. But most of all will give back a gift to you that is priceless, the feeling of making a difference in the lives of the most precious existence, that of mankind.
Love and Peace
